The poet, novelist, conductor and composer Boito was born in 1842.
He was one of the most exciting and versatile personality of the Italian culture in the 19th century.
He wrote Mefistofele in 1867.
The premier was held in Milan 1868 but because of the composer’s lack of experience as a conductor the performance was a failure.
However after the revision in 1875 the composition received loud celebration.
Boito’s opera was different from the works of Berlioz of Gounod.
He had drawn from Goethe’s Faust as well but he focused on the wager of God and Satan.
Boito made small changes on the opera between 1876 and 1881.
Mefistofele because of it’s  fragmented, episodic structure and not formulaic dramaturgy has become a modern opera which is an exciting theatrical adventure at all times.

Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro

18.00.
Magyar Állami Operaház (Hungarian State Opera House)
Andrássy út 22.
Telephone: +361-353-0170

Mozart could met for the first time the literary source of the Le nozze di Figaro (original title: Le nozze di Figaro ossia la folle giornata) in 1784.
It was written by Beaumarchais: A Crazy Day or The Marriage of Figaro.
The comedy of the French author was born before the French Revolution.
The public performance of the work was not allowed by Emperor II. Joseph because of it’s anti-aristocracy content.
Fortunately, Mozart found the best person to help him carry out his plan.
Lorenzo da Ponte was the court librettist of II.Joseph.
He had convinced the emperor that the opera wouldn’t offend the sensitivity of the monarch or the court.
And so it happened.
Mozart composed the opera in half year.
The world premiere was held at the Burgtheater in 1786 with moderate success and was taken off after nine performances.
However in December in Prague the opera was a huge success.
The audience  understood the message of the libretto, recognized and appreciated the genius of the music.

Director: Judit Galgóczy
Conductor: János Kovács

Conte di Almaviva: Levente Molnár
Figaro: Gábor Bretz
