The Hungarian impressionist painter, József Rippl-Rónai was born in 1861.
He arrived in Paris in 1887.
Since the beginning he had been looking for his own way amongst the simbolist and art nouveau painters.
1894 was the breakthrough for him when he had become member of the Nabi group.
He started to deal with graphics, litography, poster design.
Rippl-Rónai’s colored lithographs were the beggining of the Hungarian graphics.
Later the artist started to deal with applied art,he made furniture design,glass cups,book illustrations, tapestry designs etc.
Significant part of Rippl-Rónai’s graphic work are the large ink drawings.
The model of the drawings was mostly Lazarine the painter’s wife.
In 1901 he returned to Kaposvár, Hungary and painted his family, guests models and young peasant girls.
After the outbreak the painter and his family was internated to Paris where he had made maybe the most interesting piece of the exhibition, a large coal drawing which immortalized the moment when Pitacco the violinist tells the story of his suffering.
Elek Petrovics became the director of the Museum of the Fine Arts in 1914 and was the artist’s close friend.
Simon Meller was the head of the museum’s graphics department.
Dr. Pál Majovszky was an official of the Ministry of Art and he had created an outstanding collection of European art drawing.
They have donated these works to the collection.

Benkó Sándor’s band was formed in 1957.
It is one of the world’s best Dixieland Band.
They have won unnumbered awards, prizes,festivals and competitions all over the world.
They performed with the most famous jazz musicians of the world.
They started their international career in the neighbouring countries an first performed in the West in the seventies.In 1987 they performed for President Of The United States Ronald Reagan who awarded them for representing American jazz to the highest standard.
The band gives many concerts every year in Hungary and abroad and they have released 70 records.
The band is Hungary’s  travelling ambassador for New Orleans Jazz.

The Hot Jazz Band have been operating for twenty years.
Hungarian dance music and jazz are mostly in their repertoire.
But they also released a record for the centennial anniversary of Gershwin’s birth.
Swing, dixieland, charleston, rag or any classical style, the band can play it very well.
The excellent musicians evoke airily and with a good sence of humour the golden era of the music genre, Ellington, Goodman and Calloway’s world.

The Cirque du Soleil arrives to Budapest again!This time the troupe
presents the performance Alegria wich is hugely successful all over
the world,and has entertained more than 10 million people
worldwide.Alegria means in Spanish happiness, joy.The breathtaking
tracks will be presented by  55 artists from 17different
countries.Part of the performance for example the  synchronized
trapeze number,or the very energetic aerialist performances more than
12 meters high above the stage.The Power Track part is a brilliant
fusion of the precise choreography and the possibilities of the hidden
trampoline.The Russian acrobats present a pole number with
spectacular somersaults in the air  landing on  and the poles.

The performance Hungarian Rhapsody incorporate the most important features of the genre with traditional Hungarian elements.
The peasant dances of the Carpathian Basin,the acrobatic men dances and the girl’s lyrical dances and the virtuosity of the pair dances change each others dinamically.The most beautiful melodies of the folk culture will appear as virtuoso solos or hilarious orchestral playing.
The performance is a thematic selection of the choreographies made in the ensemble’s workshop.

Etyek – in a small village, 30 km from Budapest

This year you can meet the best Hungarian winemakers in Etyek again.
This village is just 30 km from Budapest.
Winemakers from all over the country will come to the cellars of the hosts.
The event will be 10 year old this year.
In addition to the tasting, numerous other programs await the visitors,cultural and child’s programs, or interesting craft fair.
On the stage excellent Hungarian musicians will be playing all day.
On Sunday the football team of the Hungarian parliament plays with the team of the winemakers.
Etyek can be reached by car,or by bus which starts every half hour from Kelenföld bus station.
The last bus from Etyek starts at 23:00h.
Visiting the festival is free only the meals and wines are to be paid.
